Hour 9 - LMP2 Focus

Over the last hour we decided to look mainly at the P2 class.

We have been impressed by the rookie performance from Jann Mardenborough driving for the Greaves team, having fairly quick but consistent lap times averaging around 3:43 every lap he is holding his third position and pulling away gradually from the Jota Sport Zytek Nissan. Unfortunately the Caterham Greaves car hasn't impressed, with a mixture of problems and generally slow pace it has a long way to go but we can't help but feel that it won't get too far up the pack running 9 laps down on the top runners.Towards the end of the hour it got a puncture too.

The hour has been stable for most of the P2 runners but the big moves have been from the 46 Thiriet car who swapped from 6th to 5th past the G-Drive Nissan number 26 and back again and from the KCMG Morgan Nissan who is now running in the top 10. The order for the top 10 in P2 currently is:

#35, #24, #42, #38, #26, #46, #49, #43, #32, #47.

The Gulf Racing Middle East Lola 28 was called for having no headlights, then no taillights and the Signatech Alpine 33 has been on fire again.

In P1 the 1 Audi driven by Fassler has been flying, going at 8 - 10 seconds faster per lap than the lead Audi so we could have quite a good race on for the podium if it can keep up the pace. Number 8 Toyota is now into second place and the 12 Rebellion has overtaken the Strakka into 6th position.

In GT the 99 Aston still leads but the excitement came from Patrick Dempsey whose celebrity status caused a raucous for the camera men in the pits when he got back into the Porsche, now circling in third in the AM category. Even his pit crew felt the pressure as the wheel gun man made two mistakes with the gun during a surreal pit stop.

And another safety car, just to end the hour! Still awake as it starts to get very late!
